In this post I will describe how to boot into Safe Mode on Android device Alcatel STAR, IDOL, XPOP, MPOP and others and actually for what it's used.

Мany Windows users know Safe Mode is a place where you can uninstall, install, remove something like Repair center.

So on Android Safe Mode is the same if your phone makes the problem of the nature of force close you need to perform this action.On Safe Mode all third pary apps are disabled and you can uninstall if you think there is a problem on some apps that you installed earlier.After rebooting in normal mode all apps will be restored at normal state.

1. To boot into Safe Mode you need to Hold Power off button on power menu like on screen shot.
2. Will be appear new window with message "Do you want to reboot into Safe Mode ? and you need to confirm to reboot into Safe Mode.
3. When phone booted into Safe Mode at bottom right cornel will display the caption "Safe Mode" this means that you are Safe Mode then I hope you know what you are doing.

How to install Xposed Framework & download Modules:

- first your phone must be Rooted [for rooting check - here and here]
- you need to download Xposed Framework from developer site - here
- Modules you can directly download from Xposed Framework or manual download as first download on PC or on Phone then install like normal app

1. So when you have already on your phone latest Xposed Framework.
2. Install apk file like normal app
3. Then you need to activate/install Xposed Framework:

4.As you can see on screen shot you need to reboot your phone to working Xposed Framework.

5. After rebooting launch Xposed Framework and go to Modules and you can install any Modules but not all are compatible and working.

6. I tried all Modules but for my Alcatel STAR 6010x only works GravityBox, Xblast Tools and some smalls like Advanced power menu.

But GravityBox have a set of amazing features that will work on most Android phones your phone.

7. Here's the GravityBox Module download from button & install.

8. After installation of Module you need and this to activate you will see notification with warning for activation.

9. Now you have installed Xposed Framework & amazing Module GravityBox.Experiment with features inside and that's it like a playing game no any modification on apk:)

note: don't forget to reboot phone after playing with Module to take effect.

note: If you don't like this app you can easily uninstall as you go to Xposed Framework app and go to first option Framework then "Clean up".

How to change bootlogo of MediaTek Alcatel STAR & IDOL

Do you want to modify or create new one bootlogo for your Alcatel STAR, IDOL or another MediaTek Android devices yes you're on the right place.
Today I am going to show you how to change easily bootlogo on your MediaTek device.
A little explanation of what is Bootlogo:
Bootlogo is first screen that you see on first booting on your Alcatel STAR, IDOL or other MediaTek Android device.
Alcatel STAR, IDOL & other MediaTek device has three boot screens:

- first - logo.bin;

- second - boot_logo located in /system/media/images;

- third - the default bootanimation for all Android devices simple changable from newbies;

1.Extract zip somewhere to PC and launch Logo Builder.

2.Press Create new project and find your logo.bin file then save all contained images from logo.bin to anyplace on your PC.
3.You will see this screen after saving logo.bin contained images.

4.You can remove first image go to destination folder which you saved logo.bin images.
note:dimensions of new image/picture need to should be the same with original file with extension png and same file name(img1.png on my Alcatel STAR) otherwise you will see a broken screen if you do not follow these recommendations.

5.After you replacing old images with new ones  you can use Make option.
On Logo Builder one of good features is making update.zip for easily flashing logo.bin via TWRP or CWM recovery.
6.Take your update.zip from folder that program saved and copy to SDCARD.
7.Boot into Recovery and install & Enjoy!!!

For changing boot_logo(second screen):

1.Press arrow to create new boot_logo

2.Choose your image that you like and save new boot_logo to anyplace then copy to SDCARD.

3.You need to manualy replace boot_logo to /system/media/images with old and set permissions to 777(all checkboxes).

[MOD] Press volume keys to switch tracks on Alcatel One Touch STAR 6010

Since we do not have any custom ROMs and CyanogenMod I decided to remap volume buttons on my Alcatel One Touch STAR 6010x because I use it and need that.
I did edit on volume buttons like feature on CyanogenMod ROM most of you know what I mean long press to skip song with volume keys.
You can switch tracks when screen is turned off & turned on.
Switching of tracks is very fast working with most Android music players included stock player.
MOD will work on other models Alcatel IDOL, XPOP, MPOP, SPOP etc.

HOW TO USE THIS MOD:

Open your Music Player then press to switch tracks/songs with VOLUME DOWN button 
You can't decrease volume because it is used but you can increase with VOLUME UP

Battery saver app for one sim versions Alcatel STAR & IDOL

I noticed on Alcatel STAR 6010D(dual sim) attending application called Battery Saver and not exist on my Alcatel STAR 6010X(one sim).
Let me introduce you with Battery Saver application.
Battery saver is very useful app on Alcatel Android phones which lies concealed active in notifications show time remaining on Active use and current Mode.

Battery saver shows time remaining on Active use:
- for Calls
- for Internet
- for Reading
- for Music

You can set battery saver on follow modes: 
- General(Haptic feedback is on and orientation is on brightness level at 30%).
- Optimal(everything's turned off & brightness levet at 20%).
- Sleep(this mod will be turning off all Networks, Wifi, Data connection, Bluetooth, GPS, Auto-sync you can't make a call only set when you go to bed).

One more great features:
You can set when power is lower than 10-20-30-40% to automatically switching specific mode.
Another feature you can for a specified time switching mode e.g. from 22:00 to 06:00.

Some Tips:
A mode is a special setting that changes and affects battery life usage.
General mode Optimal mode and Sleep mode are preset modes used to conserve battery life.These preset modes cannot be edited or deleted.

New modes can be added, customized and easily switched out to fit your user needs.
note: custom modes may not efficiently help extend battery life.

Custom modes can be edited or deleted by long pressing the mode icon.Make sure that the mode has been deactivated and not in use before you deleted it.

How to restore already created backup with Sp Flash Tool of Alcatel STAR, IDOL and all MTK devices

In the previous post we have described How to do full backup of Alcatel STAR, IDOL and etc. now we will countinue post by the following How to restore alreday created backup of Alcatel STAR, IDOL and etc.Let's all learn how to do this.

So, what's needed again:

• MTK VCOM Drivers - link
• ADB Drivers - link
• Sp Flash Tool - link
• MTK Droid Tools - link
• USB Cable from package

1. Install all above drivers or skip this step if you have already installed.
2. Install/extract Sp Flash Tool & MTK Droid Tools to somewhere on PC.
3. Launch green Android icon from folder MTK Droid Tools and go to root, backup, recovery.
   
   
   
4. Plug USB cable and wait to drivers to installed.
5. On root, backup, recovery scroll to down and look at "To proccess file ROM_ from Flash Tool"(this means To prepare files for Sp Flash Tool on the basis of the ROM file, received by function ReadBack in Sp Flash Tool) in a few words that means to split created backup in Sp Flash Tool into pieces in understandable variant that can be restore back to Sp Flash Tool so еnough talking let's continue choose ROM file.
6. When you press on above option and load ROM file proccess will begin to perform spliting of files it will take about 5 minutes or less.
7. Once the process is finished displayed "task is complete" all files will be saved on MTK DROID TOOLS/backups/Alcatel..../
   
   
8. Alright! almost done bit stuck :)
9. Launch Sp flash Tool exe from folder.

Load scatter file from splited folder and all images will be loaded with the exception of RECOVERY,CUSTPACK and MOBILE_INFO you need to load manual:
- RECOVERY(under name factory_NONmodified_recovery.img)
- CUSTPACK(custpack2.img)
- MOBILE_INFO(same mobile_info.img)

Final screen will like next and press DOWNLOAD button to restore backup then plug USB cable proccess will take over 5 minutes.

You will get message Download warning: Not all images are correctly loaded, which may cause boot up issue! Do you still want to go on downloading anyway ?

VERY IMPORTANT: PRELOADER & DSP_BL IS DANGEROUS FILES NEVER USE THIS FILES FROM ANOTHER MODEL OF PHONE BECAUSE YOU WILL HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE AND YOU NEED TO SEND IT TO REPAIR SERVICE ALSO WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THIS DAMAGE.

How to completely full backup of Alcatel One Touch STAR, IDOL, XPOP, MPOP, SPOP and all MTK devices

In this tutorial I will show How To Make a backup on whole system and whole partitions of Alcatel One Touch STAR, Alcatel IDOL, Alcatel XPOP, MPOP, SPOP and other MTK Android devices with by means of SP FLASH TOOL.

Why do we need backup ?
Тhe answer is very simple backup is necessary for the following cases:
- If you have deleted or modified some files from phone after root.
- If you experiment with phone system files.
- If you need to return it for warranty for any reason it is necessary to have a default system files on your phone as it was purchased.
- Or just for any case, just you have a backup of whole system partitions files and folders.

Let's create a Backup!
First you need to download:

• MTK drivers - link
• Sp Flash Tool(backup & flashing MTK devices program) - link
• I provide my scatter file from Alcatel One Touch STAR 6010X (if you have device with MT6575 or other chipset use your own scatter) or if you want to know how to create scatter file check this tutorial on my blog - my scatter download link

1.Open Flash_Tool.exe from Sp Flash Tool zip archive.
2.Go to top to file and select Open Scatter-loading file and find scatter file.

3.Then go to option Read Back and press Add

4.You will see this in the picture and "double click to change file, address, lenght"

5.In this step you can optionally set a name of Backup but after "ROM_"here your text and therefore press save button.

6.Now again will be appear another window with some settings see on picture below.
Open scatter file and copy 0x375ec000 block address

7.Plug usb cable and wait drivers to be installed correctly 

8.And proccess of full backup will be begin and therefore will be saved on chosen place
Backup process lasts approximately 30 minutes drink a cup of coffee and it is ready.
Finally will show a green circle means that the process is finished.
note: for each device is different duration on some maybe 10min. 20min.

It does not end there at next post I will show you how to split created backup to ready for restore from Sp Flash Tool.

Make scatter file of Alcatel STAR, IDOL, XPOP, MPOP, SPOP and other MTK phones

What is scatter file and where it is used ?
Scatter file is the text file with addresses of the blocks of phone.
Scatter file is necessary for Sp Flash Tool for backing up phone or flashing custom Recovery, kernel etc.
I will show to you how can create scatter file from MTK based device specially for Alcatel STAR 6010X.
In this tutorial I using Alcatel One Touch STAR 6010X Android MTK for creating scatter.

Begin

Files required for download:

• Install ADB drivers you can download from - link
• Install somewhere MTK Droid tools - link (for some reasons stop for little time your antivirus software)

1. Launch MTK Droid tools
2. Plug usb cable and enable USB debugging (if you don't know where is this go to settings->about phone->advanced->debugging and tick usb debugging).
3. Press Block Map as you can see on screen below
   
   
4. After will appear next window then press Create scatter file
   
   
5. Finally you need to save created scater file to PC under extension txt but don't change name of scatter just save with default generated name I just wrote the name for example reason.Generated name will be like this MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt

How to increase volume of headset or speaker Alcatel STAR, Alcatel IDOL, Alcatel SPOP

I want to share my knowledge about how you can increase volume of headset, speaker, loudspeaker etc. after dial the some specific numbers(code) on dialer which enter into "Engineer Mode".
Actually this trick is very easy to do, every even inexperienced can do it without any problems.
This trick is compatible with most Android based Alcatel One Touch models like Alcatel IDOL, Alcatel STAR, Alcatel SPOP, Alcatel IDOL Ultra and others.

So you need to dial these numbers to entering into Enginner Mode- *#*#3646633#*#*

Guide:

1. Dial on dialpad *#*#3646633#*#*.
2. Slide your finger left twice and enter into option Audio there are several options:
   - Normal mode(here's adjusts the music volume from the speaker)
   - Headset mode(here's for headset volume for Music, FmRadio etc.)
   - Loudspeaker mode(FmRadio, Incoming call volume, Loudspeaker on call etc.)
   - Speech Enhancement(not needed for normal user)
   - Debug Info(not needed for normal user)
   - Speech Logger(not needed normal user)
   - Audio Logger(not needed normal user)
3. So for example, let's increase the volume for headphones of Music.
4. Enter into "Headset mode" go to "Type" drop-down menu and select Media(for FmRadio is FMR).
5. Then go to "Level" and select Level 6(it means that the latter level when the goal of increasing and decreasing the sound of Vol +/- buttons).
6. Now on "Value is 0~255" almost the end where is located and increase on my Alcatel STAR value is "128" increase with 10, 20, 30 but important remember don't increase to maximum risk to damage the speaker of Phone.
7. As you see in the end there is another option with value "Max Vol.0~160" on my phone's 140(on other Alcatel phones may be different values) if my value at first option is at maximum you can increase and this but don't touch only in a pinch.
8. I hope to understand you my long guide of increasing volume on Alcatel phone's.

note: on Normal mode-> again for music is "Media".

Changing hidden theme of Alcael One Touch STAR, IDOL, SPOP

I will show you how to change stock white theme of Alcatel STAR,IDOL,SPOP with modification something in the code of the file build.prop.
I discovered this by accident when I fiddling with the phone.

note: Before process you need to have a Root check this or this post for Rooting.

Let's see what is changing after change theme.
Black theme is more good because black color not irritate the eyes also energy saving on Alcatel STAR with AMOLED display.

1. Download Root browser or other app file manage that allow changing files in whole system.
2. Open Root browser and go to /custpack and open build.prop for editing and locate the following code: persist.sys.jrdtheme=001 and change to persist.sys.jrdtheme=000 therefore save the changes then reboot phone once.
   (on dual sim version models 003 and 004 also working with more good icons and interface.)
   important: don't confuse build.prop in /system/ there is also such a file build.prop but it is symlink and crash your phone if you edit it you will get Bootloop(phone will not working properly)
3. That's it Enjoy a your new theme!!!

Several guidelines on installation for newbies who still are confronted with Аndroid OS:

1. At first you need to download Framaroot app from Phone or PC - link.
2. In phone go to Settings->Security->Unknown sources(Allow install of non-Play Store applications) and tick checkbox then go back and find with file manager Framaroot.apk and install it.
3. Open Framaroot and choose what to be installed SuperSU or Superuser doesn't have any matter what you choose.
4. Final step press Boromir to ROOT message will appear:
   
   Success:-) ... Superuser and su binary installed. You have to reboot your device!!!
5. If you have already acquired the Root rights over the device you can verify Root rights with "Root checker" app - link.
6. It's all as easy as ABC.
